About Us

Prairieveiw Ag Service is owned and operated by husband and wife Jim and Sharon Greif. Thirty six years of marriage and working in the agriculture industry attests to their ability to work hard, understand people, and have a deep rooted knowledge of past trends and future opportunities.
Jim and Sharon met in a cornfield in 1980 and have been working together in cornfields ever since. Jim grew up on a 5th generation family farm outside of Prairieburg, IA raising row crops, dairy cattle, and hogs. Sharon was raised on a family farm in the other "I" state of Illinois near the town of Geneseo. It was a match made in heaven... no this is Iowa.
Jim, a Certified Crop Advisor, keeps up on ag industry trends through his work with the Iowa Corn Grower Board where he has had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C., Panama, South Korea and Taiwan. He is a representative for District 6 and also serves as the Plant Biotech Liaison to Iowa State University. Jim also serves on the Linn County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. In addition to these roles, Jim has a passion for understanding the history of agriculture. As they say, "Learn from the past, prepare for the future...." Jim serves as the Vice President of the National Rumely Collectors Association and also volunteers with the Central City Historical Society running the Brown Farm Pioneer Days.
Sharon graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. At the time, she had no idea that her fashion degree would bring her back to the farm. After several years of working and gaining business acumen in Chicago, St. Louis, and Minneapolis, she took a job with Dekalb seeds covering Eastern Iowa. She worked in seed sales for eleven years gaining recognition as top in her district for both Dekalb and Americana Seeds. Sharon also served as a Director for the Iowa Corn Grower Board in the 1990's and was an active leader on the Iowa Women in Agriculture. Today she enjoys showing her Arabian horses and volunteering for the Iowa Arabian Horse Association.
Their well diversified backgrounds and desire to be on the "cutting edge" have helped farmers to make the best business decisions for their operation each and everyday at Prairieview Ag Service.
